Landscapes of Geoethics Education
An undergraduate survey
Why study geoethics education?
Geoscience work makes important impacts on our environments and communities. How and what geoscientists learn about geoethics influences the decisions they will make about what impacts are acceptable.

Very little research has focused specifically on Canadian geoscientists’ experiences of geoethics, which are unique in terms of geological, historical and environmental concerns, land access laws, and Indigenous engagement. The ways geoscientists are educated to understand their ethical and professional responsibilities are consequential.

More knowledge about the experiences of current and future P.Geo.s will open conversations about the ways Canadian geoscientists makes sense of and practice geoethics. Knowledge on these topics can be used to guide evidence-based decision-making for improved undergraduate education, which could lead to geoscientists being better prepared to navigate complex socioenvironmental issues in their work.
